Promise of Loyalty is sort of a board wipe like Single Combat that gets around protection, but each player puts a vow counter on a creature and sacrifices the rest, so it doesn't target and creatures with the vow counter can't attack you
What I mean is that, because Dogs and Wolves aren't a very heavily represented creature type, it's nice that your humans will always get at least one +1/+1 counter on them with Torgal in play
It is only really the potential for this to be a finisher that makes it playable in the same way Wall of Omens wouldn't be playable if it didn't draw a card
I guess the Apprentice is a lot more open to who attends her show
That doesnt make Ancient Vendetta any better in Limited though, as this is a terrible card through and through in 40-card formats
Toss in some cast-from-exile support like Passionate Archaeologist and other red theft cards like Stolen Strategy and you have a real brew on your hands
