Three-mana planeswalkers have traditionally been very powerful in Standard, and Im expecting more of the same from Liliana, who protects herself as well as or better than any of the previous ones
Making all of your werewolves (and regular wolves) bigger whether you're attacking or not is never not going to be helpful, especially not early on in the game when you need that extra little push to keep your creatures alive
Being able to cheaply gain control of the board is very important in current metagame as it paves the way for you to establish your planeswalkers while at the same time makes their walkers a lot less effective
In commander, Elspeth most likely fits into superfriends archetypes where playing as many Magic: The Gathering planeswalkers as possible from War of the Spark or otherwise and using effects like Doubling Season and Atraxa, Praetors Voice to let them use their ultimate abilities early
